I am here again, I know there is people out there that have large shops that
perform the backup in parallel to more than one tape drive. I am unable to do
this, I wonder what I am doing wrong. Can someone help? I will be very
gratefull, I am desperate to start production in this customer.

My situation is the following:
HP-UX 11.0
TSM 3.7.3 server
TSM 3.7.2 client
I am using 2 3590 drives in a 3494.
The client is in the same system as the server, and the major aplication is SAP
with an Oracle data base of 210 GB spread in multiple filespaces.
We have in the client resourceutilization 7, a maxnumpt 2 (two drives), in the
storage pool collocation turned on.
In the dsm.opt file we include all filespaces we want the system to backup,
around 20 of them.
We hope to see both tapes being used, there is no other session running at the
time of backup, but what we see is the first tape used until it finish,
normally with the error I posted yesterday, and then the second drive is used
with another tape, but never both tapes simultaneously.
What I am doing wrong or what else need to be done to start both sessions in
parallel?
The system creates multiple sessions but appears that they are not used, is
very complicated to understand the log and see what happen.
I really apreciate any help you could give, documentation appears not to have
any information on parallel sessions, you are my only hope.
Many thanks
Maria
