GENERICTAPE device class in 3.7.3.0 ***
What platform
and what kind of drives are there a problem with?
All,
Though you may find this useful/interesting. We discovered
yesterday that there is a problem with 3.7.3.0. APAR #IC27348 has been
generated and development is currently working on the problem.
The Problem : Data cannot be appended to a tape after an initial
write. There is some sort of problem after the tape is rewound that
prevents TSM from being able to locate the end of data on the tape.
Temporary Workaround : Keep the tapes mounted by setting the mountr
value to 9999. If the tape is not rewound then there is no problem
adding data. (I know this is impractical in most situations) The other
solution is to roll your DB back to 3.7.2.0 and go from there (Also not a
real great option.)
I'll let you guys (and gals :)) know when we know more.
Thanks!
