Del!

Thanks a lot - maybe you saved my weekend ;-)
Currently I don't have access to the machine but I can remember that
"domdsmc query adsm" shows that the API is at level 4.1. So I will follow
your recommendations and give the product another try. I'll come back to
you (and the list...) with more news on that story ASAP.

Regards,
Michael

Michael,

What does "QUERY CONTENT" show? (on the TSM server)

What does "domdsmc query adsm" show? (on the TDP for Domino machine)

I have seen this one other time. That was when the TSM API
that was actually installed was an early version of the TSM 3.7 API.
The culprit was a bad version on the TSM Server for NT CD.
The way we found this was to trace the TSM API and see that it
actually stamped the version as "version 4.1", when indeed it
was really 3.7. (3.7 was originally going to be called 4.1).
Confused yet? Don't be. Keep reading...

The "domdsmc query adsm" will tell you what TSM API level is installed.
Does it show "4.1"? If it does, then that is definitely the problem.

Either way, the easiest way that I can think of to fix this is to go
into the registry and delete the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\ADSM\CurrentVersion\API\PtfLevel

Then, reinstall the TDP for Domino code. By doing so, you
should get the 3.7.2 version of the TSM API (re)installed.

You need to delete the registry key because the install
was built to not install a higher level over a lower level...
...and because "4.1" is "higher" than "3.7", it won't install that part.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks,

Del

Subject: Problems with TDPfD

TSMers,

I try to get Tivoli Data Protection for Domino (TDPfD) up and running.
Installation was smoothless also setup of additional node, domain, MC etc.
Using the GUI, the CLI or the scheduler I am able to invoke selective and
incremental backup functions as well as archiving the Domino Logs. The
commands and also the server actlog indicate that there is data flowing and
databases are being saved.

BUT: when I try to restore (independent of the tool) a database I get the
information that there are not "objects on server" to restore. E.g. in the
GUI the "tree" with the Domino data directory, subdirs, databases etc. is
"filled" whenever I select the backup function but empty when I switch to
restore. BTW: "q content" shows files residing on the server, "q
filespace" indicates an empty filespace (perhaps thats ok, but...). So the
question is: what is going wrong here?

Environment:
TSM Server 3.7.0.0
OS: NT 4.0 with SP5
TSM b/a 3.7.0.0
TDPfD 1.1.1

Mit freundlichem Gruss/Best Regards
