As far as I'm aware the client does work with 3.1.2.40 server code.
when you start up a backup you will see 2 sessions starting one is the
data path the other is for sending file info (i think).
This is to do with new multistreaming capabilities of 3.7 , but you can
only multistream if server is also 3.7
