Re: I/O error on drive RMT1

The ASC/ASCQ code (0C00) indicates a write error, and bytes 16-17 of the
sense data contain the Fault Symptom Code (3118), which indicates the
drive lost servo tracking. There are a number of FSCs related to servo
tracking, which has been a nagging problem with both 3590Bs and 3590Es.
We're been running D0IA_4F3 microcode on our 3590Bs and D0ID_226 on our
3590Es for a while with much better (although not perfect) error
handling and recovery than prior releases.
There is a database maintained by IBM/Tucson that your local CEs can
reference for descriptions of FSCs, which has been very helpful for us
in determining whether the problem is hardware, microcode, or media.
