Prior to 3.1.2.40 there was a problem with expiration not working properly.
You probably have a lot of data out there that should have been expired and
was not. I would imagine that is your problem. When I upgraded to 3.1.2.40
expiration ran for what seemed forever. It seems to have caught up now.
