Does anyone have any experiences of backing up Network Attached Storage
appliances using TSM. Because these devices tend to operate with a
proprietry microkernel (NetApp filer for one) they cannot take client
software or agents in the normal fashion.

Network Appliance recommend connecting to the filer from a network share on
another NT server and backing up the remote drive. Whilst this would work,
it does not seem very elegant. I know Tivoli have been considering something
called Tivoli Data Protection for Network Attached Storage which uses the
NDMP protocol but I haven't heard when/if it will be available.

Does anyone use NAS technology and do you use TSM to back it up ?
