Does this occur with specific tapes, or all tapes? Do you just have the one
drive, or several and if several how many drives does the error occur on.
If you have several drives and this only occurs with one drive, then I
would suggest you clean the drive first, and if that does not work have the
drive serviced or replaced.

Uusally in thje past when I got I/O error on drives it usually meant I had
to replace the drive.
