My apologies if this is "old hat" to the *SM greybeards, I'm still pretty steep
on the learning curve.

Every since I've been involved with *SM, I've been unclear as to exactly what
the value for Estimated Capacity for a sequential storage pool really
represents, i.e. what calculation is used to arrive at it. I was doing some
fooling around with a calculator, and seem to have stumbled across an answer:

The value appears to be calculated by averaging the "est_capacity_mb" value from
each volume currently assigned to the storage pool, then multiplying that
average by maximum number of volumes the pool could encompass (i.e. the quantity
of any private volumes plus the MAXSCR value for the pool).

This method seems to produce a value that is right on for three of my four
pools, and is pretty close for the fourth (looks like an "off-by-one" error in
the multiplier there, but I haven't located why yet).

1) Is this old news? If so, is it correct, or there more to it than what I've
observed so far?

2) If not, can anybody confirm or dispute my hypothesis (empirically or
otherwise)?
