Frederic,
One more question - do you need a fully redundant server at the remote
site - have you considered having only a library with a standby server?
One of my customers uses a 3494 onsite and a remote 3494 using a fiber
extender. All copypool tapes are at the remote site, no copypool tapes are
generated onsite, and a database backup is performed for each library after
daily processing. The disaster recovery scenario is to restore a database
on a server at the remote site, but that system isn't used in daily
operations. This provides great disaster recovery with minimal duplication
of data.
