Hey Kelly - The baby isn't here yet, but time is getting short.

OK, Looks like I've been signed up for this one!! This may or may not be
what you were asking for!

Tony -
Yeah, exclude whatever you can! It's really hard to nail down the NT server
side.
On the desktop side, as Kelly mentioned, we have a Clientopt set on the
server
which controls what we backup. For NT servers you can do something similar.
We only backup unique client data, that is, data that cannot be restored
through
either an image of the OS or re-install of an application. With that said,
we have a dsm.opt file, for win95 clients,
that looks like this:
********
 tcpserveraddress server_name
 nodename nade_name
 commmethod tcpip
 tcpport 1500
 tcpbuffsize 512
 tcpwindowsize 2048
 largecommbuffers yes
 tcpnodelay yes
 schedlogretention 7
 errorlogretention 7
 schedlogname "c:\program files\ibm\adsm\ADSM.LOG"
 Test ExcludeNetworkFS, ExcludeRemovableFS
 exclude.dir "*:\...\Temporary Internet Files"
 exclude *:\...\*.*
 backupreg no
 passwordaccess generate
 LANG AMENG
 replace prompt
********

The option set looks like this, It's huge! You can specify specific
directories to backup and skip everything else.
We have not fully implemented this for NT but we will be, and it is a
smaller client option set for servers of course!

Note: As of ADSM V3.1.X the Exclude.dir and Eclude.file don't work
consistently and definitely are shaky if used in the
client option set. Your mileage may vary.

 <<clientopt.txt>>
I'm out next week in a Windows 2000 (pre-breakup) training class so I hope
this helps!
