I think I stopped seeing this, in a 3494, after installing 3.1.2.20.

I sure would like to continue my lazy ways, though.  Think you could
mail me a couple of hours of your activity log around the time when the
tape goes unavailable?  I'd like to see why...

Either way, thanks for the input.  I haven't seen this - but maybe I
just wasn't looking hard.
