I?m having trouble with my exclude.dir statements on an AIX 4.3.3 client. I
don?t have any environmental variables set so it should use my dsm.sys file
in the standard /usr/Tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin directory. I don?t have any
include statements at all and put all my exclude.dir statements at the
bottom of the list. Thus they SHOULD be excluding those directories and
everything beneath them ? but they do not. Is there some trick I?m
forgetting here? Here are some of my exclude.dir statements:

exclude.dir /u02/oradata/fsdmo
exclude.dir /u03/oradata/fsdmo
exclude.dir /u04/oradata/fsdmo
exclude.dir /u02/oradata/fsaud
exclude.dir /u03/oradata/fsaud

Etc..

Yes those directories and subdirectories below them DID get backed up last
night with a normally scheduled incremental backup. And no there are no
client options or client option files specified on the TSM 3.7.2 server?s
side that might override the local client options file.

It?s confusing.. I seem to have no luck getting exclude.dir?s to work ever.
Earlier I had a Novell 4.x client that I tried getting to work with as well
to no avail though I am following what the redbooks outline as far as I can
tell. Ended up just doing normal exclude?s to get the job done. Exclude.dir?
s are supposed to be more efficient though as the backup?s don?t traverse
the files and directories beneath your exclude.dir?

Any suggestions anyone?

Thanks,
Gerald
