Re: Problems with DIRMC

Richard,
I have deleted all filespaces before I have backed up the clients.
The query content tells me that "No match found using this criteria".
Furthermore I have done an selective backup with the DIRSONLY option.
I have backed up Windows NT and Windows 98 clients.

Carsten - Two issues are at play here...
1. In that there is data in the DIRPOOL already indicates that you performed a
prior incremental backup of some kind which put something there. We don't
know what did it: if you do a Query CONtent for the volume, that should
tell you. Now, on normal incremental backups, there is no need to back up
unchanged directories a second time, and indeed you would not want your
server being bloated that way. So the content of DIRPOOL would not change.
2. You didn't indicate what kind of clients are being backed up. Remember
that client types having simple directory structures can have the directory
information stored entirely as *SM database entries: the directory storage
pool is unnecessary and is unused. Unix clients are this way.
