We found that when we upgraded our windows nt server to 3.1.2.42
( I hope that I got all the numbers correct as I am doing this
  from memory), which in the read-me called out for dlt7000
microcode 95 (or v95 for stk dlt7000's) greatly improved our
dlt error rate. That is reduced it. It does not appear to help
tapes that were not written correctly, but does seem to reduce
problems with tapes recorded after the code upgrade.
Before this upgrade our windows nt adsm ver 3 server with dlt7000
had a high error rate where an adsm nt ver 2 server with dlt4000
had very few.

So you have to upgrade adsm/tsm and upgrade the drive microcode.

I do not know if there are more fixes in the future for the adsm/tsm
code or for the dlt7000's. Any comments IBM?

Anyone have any experience with dlt8000's.
Anyone hear when the super dlt tape drives would be released with
100 gig tapes?
