     Nathan,

we have just that running in a Pilot, everything works as designed no
functional caveats when running, in our case, an NMS attached to the
VTS hanging on to two 3590's.
Initially there were problems getting the library manager attached to
the NSM using the RS232 connection option, seemed the cable was to
long and had to do some converting to RS422 or the like.

This was the good part the bad part is that we've had a lot of
technical problems with the 3590's, bundles of I/O errors, tapes that
could not be read or written. The I/O errors and tape problems we
could handle (nothing the CE's couldn't fix) what we couldn't handle
were the core dumps (a few times a day) that TSM generated as soon as
1 of the drives starting churning out harware errors. It took IBM a
few weeks to stabilize the configuration, partly by man handling the
drives (all the right microcode, removed that damned cleaning scraper)
and installing some necessary AIX 4.3.3 fix packs.

But on the whole everything is working as designed, that is, uptil now
     no conflicts with the VTS.

     regards Walter Ridderhof

Hi,

Is anyone sharing VTS between a mainframe system and RS/6000 while using TSM
on RS/6000?

Is there anybody using TSM and VTS at all? and willing to share his
experience?

Thanks,

Nathan Himmel
