Re: ADSM Performance on SP and 3494

The setup on one of our ADSM servers is much like yours: AIX 4.2.1,
ADSM 3.1.2.40, 8-way R50, 3494 library and 7 3590B1E drives. We move about
1TB directly to tape in a 16hr window.
We too had the problem that when we attached 1 more 3590 drive onto
the ADSM server, the overall performance became very poor. After tuning all
the parameters we could in the OS and ADSM server settings, we couldn't
figure it out. Finally, we installed the latest set of patches for
bos.net.tcp.client and bos.rte.tty (and all the prereqs), and we can now add
the additional tape drive and get better performance.
You have a different level of AIX on your box, but you might want to
look and see if there are later versions of these filesets.
