Give the tape label with /usr/lpp/adsm/bin/dsmlabel 

Check - Maximum Scratch Volumes Allowed - in your STG "Tapepool"
Set it to 9999.
And
Set Mount Retention (min) to 9999 in your Deviceclass, so you don´t have
to put the band in the station every time.

TSM 3.7, AIX 4.3.3..

I created a Manual Library, Manual Drive, and 4mm Device Class for my new
TAPEPOOL storage pool. This is for a 4mm IBM tape drive (7206-005). I also
set the next storage pool on BACKUPPOOL to TAPEPOOL and then filled up the
backuppool hoping to get the data to migrate to the TAPEPOOL.. however it
doesn't happen. TSM doesn't tell me to mount a tape (dsmadmc -mountmode) and
a Q STG reveals that the estimated capacity of TAPEPOOL is 0.0. I tried

labeling a tape but it won't let me check it in (because it's a manual
library and checking in tapes is apparently only for automated libraries).
So I must be missing a step here. Why isn't TSM asking me to mount a tape so
that it can migrate the data from BACKUPPOOL over? Appreciate and help
because the manuals I've been pouring over seem to just say it should do it
when in fact it's not.hat te mode)t the data to migrate to the TAPEPOOL..
