Not necessarily.  The actual determining factor is file system compatibility.
Even within a single client you may not be able to restore across file systems
which are of different, incompatible structures.  My experience is that more
file systems are incompatible than compatible, leading to frustration as ADSM
gave a non-specific indication of the problem:
   ANS4095E No files matching search criteria were found
