 Hi all,

For some time now (just discovered today ;-0) the Saturday night ADSM client
(not the Notes Connect Agent) has been failing on a large number of users. We
have about 15 Notes servers that are backed up. Not all of them have the
failures.

The Scheduler service is installed with NT System authority, and is set to run
interactively with the desktop.

The NT application event log shows many errors of event:4099 user:system
source:AdsmClientService
 "ANS1087E Access to the specified file or directory is denied "

The dsmsched.log shows these errors at the same time:

01/01/2000 19:00:00 Normal File-->       133,971,968
\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\cabanl.nsf  ** Unsuccessful **
01/01/2000 19:00:00 ANS1228E Sending of object
'\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\cabanl.nsf' failed
01/01/2000 19:00:00 ANS4007E Error processing
'\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\cabanl.nsf': access to the object is denied

This mail database hasn't had a sucessful incremental backup since 12/11/99. I
don't generally leave my mail open overnight, and I KNOW that after my Y2K duty,
I closed my mail-- so I would get an incremental Saturday night. It failed.

There are other errors in the dsmsched.log of type:
01/01/2000 19:18:04 Normal File-->        30,916,608
\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\derens.nsf  Changed
01/01/2000 19:18:24 ANS1228E Sending of object
'\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\derens.nsf' failed
01/01/2000 19:18:24 ANS4037E File '\\sclnmal1\d$\notes\data\mail\derens.nsf'
changed during processing.  File skipped.

These errors are because the file is "open"and a corresponding TransWin32RC():
Win32 RC 32 from HlOpen(): CreateFile shows in the dsmerror.log.

The copy mode for the management class is modified, and the copy serialization
is serial. Is the copy serialization what I need to change? If so, how does
this affect the integrity of the nsf file that is being backed up?

TIA
lisa
Why are the other notes databases failing, if they are not open and the service
is running with system authority?
