It's just a flat file, right?!?  Maybe try (a) query to find the volumes
assigned, (b) then shutdown dsmserv, (c) delete the associated lines, (d)
fire up dsmserv, and (finally?) run auditdb to clean up the current db...
something to try, if you've already exhausted admin-client parameter
combinations.  Of course, backup things before embarking on this path.

Alternatively, try setting future time, "del volhist" then reset to present
date, backup db (as normal)... also, be backed up for this scenario, in case
it doesn't work as desired.
