The best ways to approach this is....
1) ONLINE EXTENSION -
(Pretty close to your straight "copy" idea...)
Create new DB/LOG vols on other disks where your mirrors are.
Extend, then Reduce/Delete the vols that exist on the disk you're
reformatting.
Be sure to Extend enough to hold what's on the reformatted disk.
Then reverse the process on the reformat is done.
2) DB BACKUP
Like it says. Backup and Restore the ADSM DB.
