I am working with a full 3494 lib w/ 2x 3590 drives, adsm 3.1.2.40 on AIX
4.3.2 and can't seem to delete 'empty' volumes.... The offending volumes
had been moved out of the library using the move media command. I found
the references in the archives to needing the tape in the lib, so I did
that, with the usual checkin command. Now, when I look at the volume, it
says it's scratch, and also part of a storage pool?! Even though I
checked the volume back in, I still get:

ANR1425W Scratch volume 000002 is empty but will not be deleted - volume
state is "mountablenotinlib".

whenever I try to delete it. How can I update the state to reflect the
fact that it's in the lib? I'm going to unexpectedly run out of tapes
today if I can't get these things freed up (serves me right for taking
vacation!)

Why doesn't ADSM delete volumes that are empty, no matter where they are?

Can ya hear the panic in my voice? :/

Help?
Please?
TIA!

Brian
