Sounds like you didn't get back the entire registry. When you've finished
the restore, the registry is in a folder C:\ADSM.SYS
The structure of this folder is something like this:

            |

Now the Users entries are quite uncritical as they are also created during
first login. What you need are the 4 files in the folder "Machine". Copy
them into c:\winnt\system32\config\. When all this doesn't lead to success
you might want to try using the previously created rdisk to bring back the
registry hives. At least then you can see whether the "rest" of your restore
was ok or not.
