IBM's support center give me the following steps if you are using MS
Access:
This is the step by follow:
1) Open MS Access database
2) Click on new link table
3) Select ODBC databases in "Files of type" drop down in Link
dialog
4) Select any Version 3 and up DSN and login
5) Select any table and check "Save Password" in Link Table
diagram
6) Exit MS Access
7) Open MS Access database again
Unfortunately I'm using Excel 97 and this does'nt work; they are still
investigating ...
I'll post here if they'll find a solution.
Best regards

Hi Winfried,
thanks for your reply; yes, I'm using EXCEL 97 SR2.
I think the problem I'm suffering is that my system is a non-English (
Italian ) one, so there should be
no choice to have the ODBC driver working.
I'll investigate if they are going to remove this restriction ...
Thanks again for your help.
Best regards

Subject: ODBC problem (on non english systems)
Hi,
are you using EXCEL 97 SR2? IBM told me that I have to use that Level.
Problems are appearing with SR1. But I haven't tried it with SR2.
I have also received the following mail from IBM.
No, unfortunately we can not support the ODBC driver on non-English
systems for this time. In the past, we allowed the ODBC driver to be
installed on non-English systems, and the installation caused
problems for a lot of users. I am investigating what we need to do
to support this, but for now it will remain a restriction. I can not
say when this will get fixed. I apologize that I do not have better
news than this.
Maybe that can help or explain the problems

Thema: ODBC problem
Hi there,
I'm not able to use the odbc interface to ADSM on OS390 server (3.1.2.20).
After installing the ODBC component (3.1.0.7), defining data source I
open MS excel, create query, select datasource, connect, select columns,
define filters, sort orders, all works fine.
When I decide to give the data back to excel, I get an error msg which
contains just "garbage" (AOU.....).
From Odbcadsm.out:
Exit ODBCGetResponseBytes() -- respBytesLeft = 0
Exit ProcessCommandResponse() -- type = ADMOUT_ENDRESP
Enter CheckError().
: SQLSTATE = 37000
: Error Message =
ÁÕÙòùñðÅ@É?¥?&??@âØÓ@£????@`@}ÆÙÖÔ}K¡
Exit CheckError() -- rc = ADMCMDRC_SYNTAX_ERROR
Exit SQLPrepare()
Exit SQLExecDirect()
Entered SQLError()

: Error Message = ÁÕÙòùñðÅ@É?¥?&??@âØÓ@£????@`@}ÆÙÖÔ}K¡
Exit SQLError()
Entered SQLError()
Entered SQLError()
On the server I can see the following msg:
ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command: DEFINE CURSOR C7fdd0
SQL="SELECT
STATUS.SERVER_NAME, STATUS.SERVER_HLA, STATUS.SERVER_LLA FROM STATUS
STATUS"
ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command: DELETE CURSOR C7fdd0
ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN issued command: DEFINE CURSOR C7fdd0
SQL="SELECT

What's am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance and best regards.
