Reinhold,
depending on the infrastructure we either have Tivoli in place so that
ADSM messages are captured and displayed at a TE/C console, or in the
case of ADSM NT servers (without the Tivoli support) we have an
application that automatically mails occuring ADSM messages (almost
real time by using the ADSM userexit extension and a mailing
application).

We backup 1500+ clients spread across the country. Basically, I have a REXX
routine to automate this. The routine does a query event w/ the exceptions=yes
parameter against both of our servers, and pipe the output to a log file, which
also gets printed out. We then take that print out and go through the servers
to determine why they failed, and ensure they have a valid connection for the
next scheduled backup. I have a second routine that parses through the log
file, and puts the servers into the appropriate makeup schedule for early that
night.

Hi,
our ADSM server will backup about 20 clients in the near future. I think
it's a lot of work to inspect dsmsched.log on all clients every day.
Is there a better method available? How is this be done in large
installations?
TIA
