Hi all,

I'm currently in the process of implementing a disaster recovery
plan using ADSM. Also in the process of learning ADSM, but hey
that's another story ;-) We're using ADSM 3 for AIX, with a 3570
Magstar 20 port tape library for data storage. We also have DRM
licenced.

In the case of a major disaster, what will be needed to completely
recover? (ie: What should I be sending offsite?) My guess is the
device config file, volhist file, tape with the latest db backup,
and tape copypool media.

Now in the case of a disaster, how do I go about restoring the machine?
I assume I reinstall AIX, then reinstall ADSM. But then what?

I had a quick look at DRM, and it has a "prepare" command that saves
lots of useful info on your ADSM setup, including copies of your
device configuration, and volume history files. Has anyone ever
used this file in a recovery situation?

Can you recommend any good redbooks/other docs that might help?

Cheers,
dan.
