Hi,

Tape capacity depends on the compression used on the client or library,
and also depends on the kinds of files to compress.
So Ithink it is quiet normal to see those differences.

Subject: Estimated Tape Capacity

Hello ADSM-L listeners. Can anyone shed some light on estimated tape
capacity?
We are running ADSM Version 3, Release 1, Level 2.20 on OS390 2.5. When
I query volume information i notice the estimated tape capacity can vary
quite a bit
between like media types (ie: 3490 cartridges). Is the estimated capacity
figure
used internally for anything or is it nothing more than decoration? Should
I be
concerned about the large variation among tapes?
TIA
