Mike,

We are in the process of developing a script to assign slot number to
tapes going offsite through DRM. It maintains a master list of available
slot numbers, also makes them re-available after returning from the vault.
It is, in actuality, a script that performs the entire list of DRM commands
for sending the tapes offsite and back onsite. Our server is on AIX and
uses an IBM 3494 ATL. I am not the programmer of the script (I know very
little of AIX or perl - my expertise is on the MVS side), but I have
basically designed it. We are "this" close to having it working.

     Will perl work for you?

                         Ginny

Subject: DRM & Slot Numbers

We use ADSM and Arcus at my real job.. We have a Sun 5500 hooked up to a
IBM 3494 ATL, and nightly ship off tapes for Disaster Recovery purposes.
We send the tapes to Arcus in Green, "Open Storage" boxes, and send them
one or two tape a night on average, and request back about the same. We
just reference the Tape ID Code thats on the label.
Does this help at all?
