Hi Henning,
I also have installed 3.1.2.20 to get the 9840 device support.
The way I read the documentation, there is no new DEVICE provided in the
3.1.2.20 code, just a new FORMAT.
So you use DEVTYPE=ECART (the device type that is used for the older STK
3490-compatible drives)and specify a FORMAT of 9840 or 9840C.
e.g.,
DEFINE DEVCLASS blah DEVICE=ECART FORMAT=9840C LIBRARY=libname
I can't test the results because my 9840 drives haven't arrived yet, but I
did test that ADSM accepts this syntax and the DEVCLASS is defined.
If you find out this isn't right, I would greatly appreciate it if you would
let me know - our drives should be arriving soon!
