Re: ADSM and Informix

We saw this same error on HP-UX using 3.1.0.1 or 3.1.0.3.
When we upgrade to 3.1.0.6 the error went away.
We truss'ed the onbar process and it consistently died at the BSAQueryObject
call. Ironically, if you look at it, you'll see it register the object, send
the data, close the transaction and then query ADSM to see if it is there, and
it croaks. No rhyme or reason. Try 3.1.0.6.
Another possibility is checking the alarm program. Your trace is having a
problem at the log portion. We found that sometimes our DBAs set up the
informix dump scripts with one environment, without making the cooresponding
change to the alarm exit for log dumps. Hence the log dumps were sent to a
different node name or under a different user id, which causes very difficult
problems.

Subject: ADSM and Informix
We have a Sun Solaris 2.6 server with ADSM client 3.1.0.5 installed. The
servers also has Informix 7.30 installed. We are backing up the Informix server
to a NT ADSM server (3.1.2.0). The problem is that the backup does not complete
successfully. Informix tech support is stating it is an ADSM problem and not an
Informix or Onbar backup problem. I included part of the onbar log.
The XBSA and ADSM client was setup according to the procedures in the README.API
as well as the latest Redbook.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Greg
