We also upgraded to SP2 and ADSM runs fine.  We are using client 3.1.06.

With SMDR.NLM dated March 1999 my NW5-server does not abend any more.
Make sure it was copied when you added SP2; Read Novell TID 2950873 from
support.novell.com:

SMDR file not installed by SP2  (Last modified: 12MAY1999)
     Symptom
    After installing the NetWare 5 Support Pack 2, (NW5SP2) the following
files do not get installed.

    It is not known under what conditions these files are not installed.

    Solution

    Manually copy these files from PRODUCTS\SMS\SYSTEM to the servers
    SYS:\SYSTEM directory.

    These are the 3 files and their correct dates
    SMDR NLM 182,058 03-12-99 3:34p SMDR.NLM
    SBCON NLM 320,241 03-19-99 3:49p SBCON.NLM
    SMSDI NLM 190,216 02-22-99 2:18p SMSDI.NLM
