We have been running an ADSM server version 2.1.0.18 on AIX 4.1.5
for several years, and we're happy with it. Now the Year 2000
problem creeps in, and IBM states that version 2.1.0 will
never be made Y2K compliant. Upgrading to version 3.1
is an option, but it's quite expensive.

The ADSM server version 2.1.5.19 update for AIX is, however, Y2K
compliant. Hence I wonder if I can upgrade from 2.1.0.18 to
2.1.5.12 (available on the AIX 4.2.1 bonus pack) and then update
that to 2.1.5.19 ?

Questions: Can I upgrade 2.1.0 to 2.1.5 while keeping the
existing ADSM database, tape volumes etc. ? Any snags ?

Does my 2.1.0 license allow an upgrade to 2.1.5, or will
I need a new license from IBM ?

Is my plan anyhow a good idea compared to purchasing an upgrade
to 3.1 (mind you, I don't actually need any of the new features
in 3.1, I just want to know if it's worth the trouble) ?

Are the Y2K problems in 2.1.0.18 actually fatal, or are they only
minor problems ?

Thanks a lot,
