Hi Angel,

We are on Version 3 server and Version 3 clients:
I'm new to ADSM also, but I have installed on clients Win 95 and NT 4.0
Our server is o/s 390 and we run AIX, Solaris, Sun, NT and win 95 clients.

I created a short cut with the proper paths and even load your password into
it. If you don't load it will prompt you for it.

This is what mine looks like: (Win 95)

Target:
C:\WIN32APP\IBM\ADSM\baclient\DSMC.EXE schedule -password=xxxx
xxxx = your client node password

Start in:
C:\WIN32APP\IBM\ADSM\baclient

Regarding your include/excludes , remember that they are read from the bottom
up and that if is not excluded, it will be included.

Domain and subdrir option s I am not familiar with

If you need help creating a shortcut let me know

Good luck

Hello Everyone.

I don't have much knowledge on NT but would like to know more.
Our NT administrator is out today for two weeks and I was asked
to install a new NT client (3.1.0.3). The installation was straight
forward but I believe I might have missed something:

   1. I could not find the ADSM scheduler icon. So I had to
create a batch file that contains "dsmc schedule".

   2. Our customer requested a test backup of the "Documents"
directory which is located in the client local drives c: e: and
f:
The test backup was incremental and the dsm.opt file
        contained the following:

      domain c: e: f:
      .
      .
      include c:\documents\...\*.*
      include e:\documents\...\*.*
      include f:\documents\...\*.*
      exclude "*:\macintosh volume\*"
      exclude "*:\macintosh volume\*.*"
      .
      .
      exclude *:\winnt\Profiles...\*.*
      .
      .
      subdir yes

The backup looked okay and we were able to restore
files contained in the *:\documents directories. But
the GUI had also displayed unecessary empty directories.

Do I have to reinstall the client software to get the ADSM scheduler
icon?
Is the dsmp.opt file configured properly to get the desired action even
if the GUI displayed other empty directories?

Your input or suggestion is appreciated.
