Hi Robert. Consider the following for your archiving:
1. In the "Object" field if you are using the scheduler, specify
only the directory or filesystems you want archived.
Keep in mind the object field can contain only 512
characters. If that's not enough, consider using "COMMAND"
for the "Action" field to specify the script containing
the files you want archived.
2. Note also that if you are using a script or command to include
the parameter "-subdir=yes".
3. In your dsm.sys file, insert a "virtualmountpoint filesystem_name"
for each filesystems you are archiving.
4. With archiving, the "inclexcl" file is ignored.
There maybe other things to consider but those are the ones I can
think of now. Perhaps someone might add to these.

Subject: Archiving vs. Backup
ADSM'ers,
Currently our shop is using backups for all of our clients. It is
now
time to implement archiving for some of these boxes. We will want to
exclude some of the files that are currently backed from the archival
process. I don't have the option of allowing users to initiate
archives
or to explicitly include files or extensions of files to be archived.
My problem: How do I filter out the files I don't want archived?
Separate dsm.opt? Another nodename?
Any suggestions and or solutions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Robert
