ADSM Migration to Version 3.1                                                   
                                04/09/1999

Prepare for Migration
[ ] Perform a full backup of the ADSM database.
        backup db dev=3590dev0  t=f  s=y

[ ] Create a backup copy of files from /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin:
        dsmserv.dsk, dsmserv.opt, dev_conf.1, vol_hist.1, rc.adsmserv

[ ] Shutdown ADSM server.
        halt

Install ADSM Version 3.1
[ ] Remove the previous server software.
        /usr/sbin/installp -u adsm.server

[ ] Install ADSM Version 3.1
        smitty install_update
        Install and Update from the LATEST Available Software
        INPUT device / directory for software   [  ]

[ ] Convert the ADSM database to Version 3 format.
        /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmserv upgradedb

[ ] Check the database.
        q db, q dbv, q log, q logv, q dev, q vol, q node, q stg, q libv

[ ] Stop the server.
        halt

[ ] Install PTF into SP05 (for 3.1.2.20).
        smity install_update
        Update Installed Software to Latest Level (Update All)
        INPUT device / directory for software   [  ]

[ ] Reinitialize the database.
        /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmserv upgradedb

[ ] Stop the server then load the WEB definition file.
        halt
        /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmserv runfile dsmserv.idl

[ ] Load scripts.
        /usr/lpp/adsmserv/bin/dsmserv runfile scripts.smp

[ ] Update ADSM licenses.
        register license file=appropriate_license_file

[ ] Verify installation.
        Perform a test backup.
        Perform a test restore.

[ ] Perform OS backup.

[ ] Perform a full backup of the new ADSM database.
        backup db dev=3590dev0  t=f  s=y
