We do
7 versions data exists
3 versions data deleted
retain extra versions 35 days
retain only version 95 days
as a "default" management class
I've attached an Excel spread sheet that shows the "state" of backup
versions on the adsm server based on the above mentioned settings and
status of the file on the client node... it is a very clear way to
show clients what is going on and why...
hope it helps,
later,
Dwight

We delete old versions after 180 or 454 days and the same for Retain
only. I think 14 days is too short to keep a deleted file, and we
have had people come unhinged because we delete them at all.
standard version options (exists) are 3 and 5.
We honor all requests for optional retention policies (we charge for
occupancy so why not?)

ADSM'ers,
We are taking another look at our version and retention choices.
Currently
we have the following.
Versions Data Exists = 2
Versions Data Deleted = 1
Retain Extra Versions = No limit
Retain Only Versions =14
I am curious to know what some of you have chosen and why.
Thanks,
Kyle Payne
