I got something like this to work once (with difficulty). I was trying to
have ADSM write a DB backup to a FILE type devclass on a network drive, and
I ran into the same type or error thing.

I think it is an NT permissions thing.

The ADSM server is running as a service, but doesn't have any authority to
write to a drive owned by another machine.
The acccount YOU are logged on with probably has permission to write to R:,
but that doesn't mean the ADSM server service has those permissions.

I believe you have to create an NT account that has appropriate permissions
to that R: drive.
Then in Control Panel/Services, you change the STARTUP attributes for the
ADSM server, so that it uses that account.

At least that's how I remember it, an NT expert probably has a better idea.
