Gene,

I believe that you are referring to the scheduler icon that you are
used to seeing in the ADSM program folder. This icon was inadvertantly
left out of 3.1.0.6 when we upgraded the version of InstallShield that
we use to package the Win32 client. There were a couple of other
installation problems, including:

ADSM32.DLL is not installed as part of the API run-time component.

Silent install does not work.

There is a fixtest available on our FTP site index.storsys.ibm.com
in directory /adsm/fixtest/v3r1/win32/intel. The file name is
IC22800J4.EXE. The following items are fixed in this fixtest:

The scheduler icon will be installed on Win9x machines. It was left
out of NT machines on purpose because using the scheduler service
is the recommended method (as well as the method preferred by most
users, as far as I know) for performing scheduled backups.

ADSM32.DLL is now installed with the API run-time component.

Silent install is *partially* fixed. Silent installs based on "Custom"
installation types probably won't work, but "Typical" and "Compact"
installations should work okay. We are working on fixing silent install
  for "Custom" installations, too.

Best regards,

Andy
