Thanks Andy:

Using the short file name for DSMCUTIL solved the following:

The following message was showing up in the dsmerror.log on some
clients whenever the Scheduler Service was started. The Sheduler
Service starts successfuly and uses the options specified in dsm.opt.
Everything seems to work fine, just the error message:

ANS1838E Error opening user specified options file ''C:\Program
Files\IBM\ADSM\baclient\dsm.opt'' .

I removed the service and reinstalled using the short file name instead of
"Program Files". ( /optfile:"C:\progra~1\ibm\adsm\baclient\dsm.opt")
and no more error message!

Hi Cris,

Try using dsmcutil remove to delete the scheduler service,
then recreate it just as you did except add the following
parameter:

/clientdir:c:\progra~1\ibm\adsm\baclient

See if that makes any difference.

For some reason the blank space in the directory
name hoses some folks. Why we do not yet know, as it
works just fine on my system. But this circumvention
should work alright.

Best regards,

Andy
