Couldn't agree more. We had a Solaris 'upgrade' go very bad on us, we ended up
with a machine
with zero usable operating system. Thankfully everything was saved next door
onto that nice 3494.
So we've already tested some of our backups, by having to restore. It's a good
point, maybe 'best
practice' is to restore a few randomly chosen files to /dev/null every week?
(Prepares for howls of protest!)
Problem now is that I'm so used to the speed and convenience of the old 3494
that I cannot stand
going back to 4mm DAT, they seem so slooowwww and VERY unreliable.
