When a mount request isn't replied within the specified mount request
time then ADSM sets the requested volume to unavailable.

Extending the mount request time can help, but you have to be sure the
volume is mounted in that period. Formely when you've inserted the
volume (in time) you have to give the reply command on the
administrative CLI. Than can be done by typing 'REPLY <request
number>' and with 'QUERY REQUEST' or 'QUERY ACTLOG' you can find the
request number. But with 3590 and 8mm unit I've experienced that no
reply is necessary and ADSM automaticly picks up the mount.

NO the tape is in good condition with no entries in logs.. Some suggested
that when the mount request expires it sometimes set the tape to unavailable
This may be the case as the request comes during the night and no one is
here to mount till the a.m.

I'm going to extend the mount request time and see if that helps.

Thanks, John
