what is a sensible retention period for volhistory?

Hi,
We run a DELETE VOLHISTORY TODATE=TODAY-30 TYPE=ALL everyday. However I
don't know why we chose for a 30 day retention period.
Is there a way to make a sensible decision about the deletion of the volume
history?
