There is no way to override serialization at the client end.

It's not clear exactly what you are after. I take it that you're talking
about a database file that has a habit of changing during backups.
Otherwise, unless the file is lock such that no other program can even look
at it, ADSM should be able to back it up.

I know you can create a management class and change the serialization to
dynamic and then bind the file to that management class.  But is there any
way you can force ADSM to back up an open file using the option file?
