Dennis,
It is possible to run 2 web clients on one machine. To install the services
(2 services comprise the Web Client) required to run the
second instance of the Web Client, perform the following:
1. Install the second client acceptor service by issuing:
dsmcutil install cad /name:"ADSM Client Acceptor 2" /node:<nodename>
/password:<password>
/optfile:dsm2.opt
2. Install the second remote client agent service by issuing:
dsmcutil install remoteagent /name:"ADSM Remote Client Agent 2"
/node:<nodename>
/password:<password>
/optfile:dsm2.opt
/partnername:"ADSM Client
Acceptor 2"
Note: Only the client acceptor services should be configured to start
automatically. The remote client agent service will be started by the
client acceptor service when needed, and stopped when no longer needed.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Two Web Clients on One Machine
Hi all,
I have a group of NT clients that run two different nodenames to two
different servers. This works fine and we successfully run two scheduler
services with two dsm.opt files. Now, I'd like to setup two web clients
to run on one client machine, but I'm having trouble with the second
one. (By the way, I'm using a different HTTPPort in my second dsm.opt.)
It appears the problem stems from the 'optfile' option. The
documentation states this is a valid option, but when I try to start the
second service I receive the following:
Could not start the ADSM Client Acceptor service on \\xxxxxx. Error
2186: The service is not responding to the control function.
I've tried to run only one service using the 'optfile' option, but I get
the same results. Do I have a syntax problem or am I missing something?
My second service is setup like this:
SERVICE_NAME: ADSM Client Acceptor 2
TYPE : 110 WIN32_OWN_PROCESS (interactive)
START_TYPE : 3 DEMAND_START
ERROR_CONTROL : 1 NORMAL
BINARY_PATH_NAME : C:\Progra~1\IBM\ADSM\baclient\dsmcad.exe
-optfile=dsm2.opt
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
LOAD_ORDER_GROUP :
TAG : 0
DISPLAY_NAME : ADSM Client Acceptor 2
DEPENDENCIES :
SERVICE_START_NAME : LocalSystem
Has anyone tried this or have any ideas?
Thanks,
Dennis
