For the problem of having to shutdown a database on certain days, why not
run the ADSM backups from a Cron job? You could have Cron bring down the
database on the days you need cold backups, and a Cron job to run DSMC INCR
right after that.
Remember, just because there's a scheduler doesn't mean you have to use it.
