it is the "fsize" parameter...
     root:
     * fsize      - soft file size in blocks
     *       fsize = 4194302
     *             (19084084 is aprox 9.1GB)
     *       fsize = 19084084
      fsize      = -1

     it is in /etc/security/limits  the -1 is unlimited and ulimit is
set
     on a "by userid" level... the aix fsize install default is 1GB

As far as our aix guys told me, ulimit is "unlimited" and large file
support is implemented. The files have ~1 GB size.
