You don't HAVE to put them in separate pools. The reason why you usually do
is simply to keep the files separate. When you archive to a different set
up tapes, you have the option of pulling those tapes out of the library and
keeping them on a shelf. Usually, when someone wants a backup file
restored, they want it NOW, while you can get a few hours warning if they
want to retrieve an archive.
Also, if you need to restore a full system, ADSM will not have to mount
tapes and skip archived files. Less tape movement means faster restore.

Hi all,
normaly ADSM has seperat pools for backup and archive. What are the reasons
for that. Can anybody give me some informations why I should seperat the
pools.
