finally found the culprit, after unnistalling lotus notes client
4.5.5 fr, scheduler works fine again. very funny. i installed nt sp4
before but it didn't solved the problem. the workstation is now
nt 4 sp 4 and everything run fine.

 on the other workstation, as someone answered, the problem was
having installed the adsm client after sp3. removing & installing
it again solved the problem.

 apparently, the adsm nt client is very sensitive, a problem with
some mismatched dll perhaps. i have still more to investigate about
the lotus notes client issue.
