I know where you can "order" more semaphores for you Solaris 2.X system.
The /kernel directory contain a file called sys
it is a text file that is read on reboot, bootup, etc...The file sets your
kernel parameters, and semaphores happens to be one of those parameters you
can modify. If you need anymore help, you can email me or call me...or

Go to www.sun.com and search on /kernel. The following information is from
the Solaris 1.X to 2.X transition guide. The internal changes from 2.5.X
to 2.6.X are minimal. The Sun Answerbook may also have more specific
details on how to change semaphores, that should be included with your
install media. Solaris 2.6 was an attempt to create a user-friendly
"Internet-enabled" version of Solaris 2.5.X. They(Sun) did a decent job of
it, actually but there not much changed in the revision.

Subject: Re: Solaris ADSM client and Samba

hi Kelly,

i run samba and adsm client on some of my unix boxes too. but i have not
got your "semaphore" problem before.

samba is a freeware i believe. go to http://www.samba.org and you can
download the latest version of source code (or binaries for you platform).
but i guess you need to investigate it a little bit more. i'm not that
fluent in solaris 2.6 but if it is really "semaphore" stuff you don't need
to order them. ('cause they just come to you. just kidding:). i guess you
might want to consider bumping some limit up or recompile your kernel.
it's a system resource thing.

hope this helps a little.
